Knowledge Quest Academy Administrator (Principal) position
Qualifications/Job description
Knowledge Quest Academy Charter School’s K-8 Administrator is responsible for providing strong, decisive, energetic leadership to all staff and is charged with overall organizational operation and leadership within the boundaries established by the board of directors. The Administrator is responsible for upholding the vision and mission of the school, and ensuring that the strategic plan is implemented accordingly. The Administrator needs to be a visionary leader who maintains open lines of communication within the school and in the community and who engenders confidence by being trustworthy, accessible and visible. The Administrator is the primary link between the school and the board of directors. This person should have a track record of building collaborative teams that have resulted in measurable results in student achievement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as the leader of Knowledge Quest Academy, unifying program levels and departments and ensuring the fulfillment of the vision and mission throughout every aspect of the K-8 program.
2. Guides and integrates curricular and instructional programs on a K-8 level to ensure that student achievement is maximized.
3. Provide instructional leadership towards developing a robust 21st century learning program that includes critical thinking, creativity, technology, problem solving and global communication skills.
4. In conjunction with the KQA Board Treasurer, ensures the financial and business health of the school.
5. Fosters a positive and cooperative team atmosphere through clear, high expectations for all staff.
6. Work with staff to encourage and foster parent/volunteer engagement in a strategic way for the benefit of the school.
Education and/or Experience:
1. Master’s degree in education plus Principal/Administrator license
2. Five (5) years of experience preferred.
3. Administrative experience in a school setting required; experience in a school(s) of choice desirable.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of school law
5. Commitment to Knowledge Quest Academy’s mission
6. Demonstrated flexibility and experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
7. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a variety of populations
8. Demonstrated commitment to accountability requirements and strategic planning
9. Expert-level written and oral communication skills
10. Strong interpersonal and team building skills
11. Familiarity of Core Knowledge
12. Knowledge of and commitment to character development

Health Room Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED, First aid, CPR required.
2. EMT, CNA, or medical background with 1 year experience preferred.
3. Computer skills necessary.
REPORTS TO:
School nurse and principals of each school assigned.
JOB GOAL:
To assist the school nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school health service to realize that service’s maximum positive impact on the educational environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Helps maintain the health room under the direction of the school nurse.
2. Provides minor first aid and comfort measures to ill or injured children according to the State of Colorado guidelines.
3. Assists school nurse with vision, hearing, height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse screenings.
4. Administers medication under delegation of the school nurse following the guidelines from the State of Colorado.
5. Maintains accurate records of student health files and immunizations and performs clerical duties as assigned by the school nurse or principal.
6. May accompany an ill child home or to place designated by parent or legal guardian when a responsible adult is present, under the direction of the principal.
7. May accompany an ill or injured child to the hospital or clinic for comfort when the parent/guardian may not be reached.
8. Other duties as assigned by the school nurse or principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten month year, salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
