Curriculum Highlights

All grades at Knowledge Quest Academy (KQA) use a rigorous and challenging academic program known as the Core Knowledge® curriculum sequence. Developed by E.D. Hirsch, Jr., founder of the Core Knowledge Foundation, the curriculum provides content guidelines for children in grades K-8 to help them develop reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

By instilling in students a rich vocabulary and broad knowledge base on which future instruction can build, broaden, and deepen, the Core Knowledge sequence helps to ensure that all children receive a knowledge base that will assure later educational success.

Specials and electives

The KQA curriculum also features "specials" for students in kindergarten through fifth grade including library, art, music, PE, and technology.

Our mission

Knowledge Quest Academy provides innovative teaching of comprehensive and relevant curriculum to support the mastery of skills necessary for academic success. Additionally, there is a commitment to teaching and implementing a code of ethics that promotes responsible citizenship.

Governance

The KQA Board of Directors consists of five to seven elected parents who oversee and establish the educational and operational policies of the school. The board meets twice a month to discuss school operations and hear reports; all meetings are open to the public.

School accountability

The Knowledge Quest Academy School Accountability Committee provides the KQA community with information and data analysis, which is used to assess progress toward our mission and strategic plan. The committee is responsible for making recommendations to the administration and/or the KQA Board of Directors based on the assessment of the educational program, student achievement, and staff, parent, and student satisfaction.

Each year, the Accountability Committee meets monthly to monitor and solicit input aligned with the KQA mission and goals, and then issue an annual report to the board of directors and the school district. A copy of the school accountability report is available for the public as well.
